AUSTIN, TEXAS: Tech billionaire Elon Musk is the wealthiest person in the world, as his net worth is estimated to be in the $840–850 billion range, as per the most recent real-time trackers.

Recently, a rumor circulated online that had nothing to do with his wealth and was related to his religious beliefs. Some online posts claimed that Elon Musk said he agrees with the teachings of Jesus. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Elon Musk said he agrees with the teachings of Jesus

On Tuesday, February 17, several social media users came up with posts claiming Elon Musk said he agrees with the teachings of Jesus.

An X post by @LeadingReport read, "BREAKING: Elon Musk: I agree with the teachings of Jesus."

Similarly, another X user @GuntherEagleman posted, "JUST IN: Elon Musk just dropped a POWERFUL truth bomb, 'I agree with the teachings of Jesus Christ'. Amen!"

Meanwhile, another X account's post read, "Elon Musk: 'I agree with the teachings of Jesus'."

"BREAKING: Elon Musk just declared → "I agree with the teachings of Jesus." In response to someone calling for his evangelism, the world's richest man drops this mic: "I agree with the teachings of Jesus." Jesus is winning," wrote another X user.

Fact Check: True, Elon Musk made the statement

The claims made in the online posts are true, as Elon Musk did say, "I agree with the teachings of Jesus."

Musk's statement was a direct reply to an X post by @creation247 that read, "Someone needs to evangelize Elon Musk. Who will lead him to Christ?"

The Tesla CEO replied shortly after, and the post quickly went viral, garnering over 2.5 million views, more than 90,000 likes, and thousands of reposts/replies.

Soon after Musk's comment, screenshots and quotes spread rapidly across X, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, with many Christian accounts celebrating it as a positive step or 'testimony'.

Interestingly, Musk's recent remark aligns with his past statements, as he has repeatedly expressed admiration for Jesus' teachings while clarifying he's 'not a particularly religious person' and calls himself a 'Cultural Christian'.

Moreover, his similar comments appear in older interviews, but the February 2026 phrasing matches the viral claim exactly. The quote is accurate and verifiable from Elon Musk's verified X account. It's not fabricated or misattributed.

Furthermore, no evidence suggests the post was edited, hacked, or taken out of context beyond the reply format.
