A rumor that recently circulated was about a screenshot showing Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump, sharing a post on X claiming those who dare to defy the American Golden Age will lose. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.
Claim: Eric Trump's post threatened those who 'dare to defy the American Golden Age'
An X user shared a screenshot on January 26, purportedly showing an alarming post from Eric Trump spread widely. The post was allegedly shared and deleted within 20 minutes, according to Snopes.
As per the Screenshot, Eric Trump wrote, "Any and all who dare to defy the American Golden Age, heed this warning: You WILL lose. Tow the line, or we WILL run you down! The gloves are off, and we're not playing around this time. For now, it's tariffs, but trust me: We can, and will, do SO MUCH WORSE."
False: Eric Trump did not make any such post on X
The rumor circulating on social media platform X is completely false as there is no evidence that Eric Trump made such a post on X, according to Snopes. There were no links related to the deleted post and no mainstream news coverage of the moment.
Moreover, Snopes reached out to Eric Trump via the Trump Organization where a spokesperson for the organization responded, "Eric Trump never made that statement. This is a completely false story, and to suggest otherwise is complete and total slander."
Furthermore, all the posts sharing the screenshot seemed suspicious as they provided no link to the deleted post. The fake post spread amid Donald Trump's threats to dramatically increase tariffs on imported goods.
President Trump promises 'golden age of America'
President Donald Trump on Monday, January 27, claimed that the United States is now a "meritocracy" after the elimination of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs in the federal government.
He called birthright citizenship "ridiculous" and "has to stop," per his recent executive order. The president argued there are no more "horrible people that wanted to kill our country" attempting to enter the US through Tijuana, Mexico since he issued orders cracking down on illegal immigration, according to USA Today.
He said in a speech before House Republicans, "We've raised a lot of money for the next race. That, I assume, I can't use for myself because I think I'm not allowed to run again. I'm not sure. Am I allowed to run again, Mike? I better not get you involved in that argument."
The president also touted Republicans' victory in the 2024 elections, saying they created a "political earthquake" by bringing Black, Hispanic, and union voters into the party and said, "The Golden Age of America has officially begun."
