NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rep Jasmine Crockett is known for never backing down in a feud—her clashes with Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene and, more recently, with President Donald Trump make that clear.

Meanwhile, a rumor recently circulated online claiming that comedian Bill Maher had a "tense exchange" during an interview with Crockett on 'Real Time With Bill Maher'. But is there any truth to this? Let's find out below.

Claim: Jasmine Crockett had a 'tense exchange' with Bill Maher during 'Real Time' interview

In early May, a rumor circulated online claiming that Bill Maher had a "tense exchange" during an interview with Jasmine Crockett on HBO's political talk show 'Real Time With Bill Maher'.

On May 3, the DP Insights YouTube channel posted a 24-minute video with the title, 'Jasmine Crockett Stuns Bill Maher on Live TV with a Savage Comeback—Audience Left in Shock!'

The viral clip's thumbnail had an image of Crockett purportedly saying to Maher, "You f*****g weasel!"

Moreover, the video's description read, "During a tense exchange on "Real Time with Bill Maher," Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett sat across from a host known for cutting guests off and controlling the narrative."

"But when he dismissed her with a comment about "young progressives being too emotional," the mood in the room changed fast. What came next wasn't loud, but it shook the entire set — and stunned everyone watching," the description continued.

The description further read, "This isn't just about a viral moment. It's about what happens when someone refuses to shrink, stays calm, and speaks the kind of truth that leaves no space for sarcasm. As applause grew and backlash followed, one sentence kept echoing across social media and living rooms alike: I'm not being small."

False: The viral video was a work of fiction

The claims made in the viral video are false, as a disclaimer at the bottom of its text description clearly states it is a work of fiction, according to Snopes.

The disclaimer read, "The stories presented on this channel are entirely fictional and crafted solely for entertainment."

Similarly, the first few seconds of the video, a very quick moment, also contained a similar disclaimer, per the fact-checking outlet.

Moreover, Maher has not yet interviewed Crockett on his show, not during or before May 2025.

Furthermore, searches on the official 'Real Time With Bill Maher' website and search engines showed no credible information about her appearing as a guest on his TV show.

Bill Maher once criticized Jasmine Crockett on his show

Even though the rumor is false, it is true that in March 2025, Bill Maher criticized Jasmine Crockett on his show.

During the show, Maher took issue with the way Crockett spoke about President Donald Trump's address before Congress on March 4.

During an interview with MeidasTouch, Crockett said, "This is not America. This is a terrible nightmare. Somebody slap me and wake me the f**k up because I'm ready to get on with it."

Following this, Maher commented on the interview clip and said, "And here's Jasmine Crockett, who is, I thought, a big leader in the Democratic Party. Her quote is, 'This is a terrible nightmare. Somebody slap me and wake me the f**k up because I'm ready to get on with it.'"

He added, "Uh, on with what, would be my first question. And also, this is, this is the way a leader, this is how a podcaster talks, or some s**t. 'F**k it, man.' Can you imagine, I don't know, Obama saying, 'Oh, man, dude. This s**t is whack. F**k it. Slap me. I'm f*****g over it.' I mean, c'mon man."
