WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance has publicly discussed his interest in UFOs on multiple occasions, and framed the topic through a mix of personal curiosity, a commitment to government transparency, and a Christian spiritual lens.

In a recent sit-down interview with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson, Vance said he is 'obsessed' with UFOs and the classified government files on them.

Following this, a rumor circulated online claiming that JD Vance said aliens are demons while talking about UFOs. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: JD Vance said aliens are demons

On Friday, March 27, several X accounts came up with posts claiming that JD Vance said aliens are demons during his interview with Benny Johnson.

An X post read, "US Vice President JD Vance says UFOs aren’t aliens; he believes they could be demons or spiritual beings." Similarly, another X account posted, "Vice President JD Vance reveals his belief that 'aliens' are actually demons."

Meanwhile, an X user also wrote, "US Vice President JD Vance has revealed he believes UFOs are demons, not aliens", whereas another account wrote, "JD Vance says aliens are just demons in disguise causing mischief around our planet."

During the interview, Vance vowed to use his remaining time in office to investigate and "get to the bottom of it" regarding UFOs. He also mentioned past attempts to visit sites like Area 51 in Nevada and locations in New Mexico, though scheduling prevented those trips.

Fact Check: True, Vance did make the statement

The online claim that JD Vance said aliens are demons during his interview with Benny Johnson is true. Clips from the interview show Vance making the alleged statement.

The VP said during the interview, "I don’t think they’re aliens, I think they’re demons anyway, but that’s a long discussion", as Johnson told Vance, "Well, I can’t let you go without a follow-up on that…So you think they’re demons?"

"Well, look, I think that celestial beings who fly around to do weird things to people, I think that the desire to describe everything celestial, everything as otherworldly, to describe it as aliens… I mean every great world religion, including Christianity, the one that I believe in, have understood that there are weird things out there. And there are things that are very difficult to explain," Vance added.

He also mentioned, "When I hear about an extra natural phenomenon, that’s where I go to: The Christian understanding that there’s a lot of good out there, but there’s also evil out there. And I think that one of the devil’s great tricks is to convince people he never existed."
