WASHINGTON, DC: Following the debates surrounding Dr Anthony Fauci’s Senate hearing, where he repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment, a rumor began circulating online claiming that Stephen Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, who called for Fauci’s imprisonment, once got medical advice from him. The viral rumor requires a fact-check.

Claim: Katie Miller got medical advice from Dr Anthony Fauci

According to the claim, Katie Miller, a former White House adviser and wife of senior White House adviser Stephen Miller, received medical advice from Anthony Fauci during her pregnancy in 2020 and noted that she later called for Fauci to be imprisoned.

A Facebook post stated, “Anthony Fauci's diary shows him calling Stephen Miller's pregnant, COVID-positive wife a couple of times a day through the spring of 2020. The Millers now want him in prison."

The post highlighted entities allegedly from Fauci's diary, released in July by Sen. Rand Paul, that mentioned providing medical advice to Miller.

The post said, “Through all of it, nobody has disputed what the diary shows: in the scariest spring of their lives, the man they now call a criminal kept calling to make sure she was okay."

"When she was afraid, he answered. Now that she's safe, she wants him in a cell. Remember that the next time the Millers tell you who the criminals are.”

Fact Check: Dr Anthony Fauci's diary and Katie Miller's post support the claim

The claim is indeed true, as Fauci's diaries and Miller's own X posts show she and Fauci were in regular communication during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic when she served as press secretary. Fauci’s diary that accompanied the post is also authentic.

It is also true that Miller called for the imprisonment of Fauci. According to her post in late July, Miller regarded Fauci as a "narcissist who sought to put himself on as much media as possible" and who "manipulated those around him to best serve his outcome" in 2020.

The speculation surfaced following Dr Fauci’s Senate hearing on July 29, during which he repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment while facing intense questioning from Republican senators led by Rand Paul

The hearing was centered around the allegations that Fauci misled Congress about the origins of COVID-19, government-funded research, pandemic policies, and federal recordkeeping. But he denied wrongdoing and argued that the investigation is designed to support efforts to prosecute him.
