Fact Check: Did Madonna say she will ‘never forgive Trump’ and call him a ‘disgusting human’?
WASHINGTON, DC: Amid wider criticisms against President Donald Trump, a claim has been circulating on social media platforms that Madonna slammed the Republican leader, saying she will never forgive him. Let us analyze and fact-check the viral claim.
Claim: Madonna called Donald Trump a 'disgusting human being'
According to posts circulating online, the Queen of Pop said, “I will never forgive Trump. He is a disgusting human being.”
The claim has been shared on X, Facebook, and Instagram, garnering hundreds of thousands of views.
The alleged quote has triggered mixed reactions, with some agreeing with the singer, while others slammed her for it. Meanwhile, a few of them expressed skepticism and questioned the authenticity of the claim.
Fact Check: Madonna never made such remarks about Donald Trump
The claim, however, is false, as there is no evidence of Madonna making such a remark against the president. A search on Google for the quote yielded no credible reports by prominent news media outlets.
However, there are reports from 2017 where Trump called the pop singer “disgusting” following the controversial speech she made at the Women’s March in Washington.
“Honestly, she’s disgusting. I think she hurt herself very badly. I think she hurt that whole… cause,” he told Fox News‘ Sean Hannity in an interview. “I thought her and a couple of others. But I thought she was in particular… I thought what she said was disgraceful to our country.”
Madonna clarified 2017 'blowing up the White House' comment after backlash
Trump’s remark was in response to the 'Vogue' singer’s statement on how the 2016 election results had affected her. “Yes, I’m angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House,” she told a crowd of roughly 500,000 people.
The speech drew widespread backlash, prompting her to address the issue on social media. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “I am not a violent person; I do not promote violence, and it’s important people hear and understand my speech in its entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context.”
