WASHINGTON, DC: Online speculation is intensifying about whether Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie could be exploring the formation of a new political party. The discussion has grown following Massie’s defeat in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District to Donald Trump-backed candidate Ed Gallrein in what is being reported as the most expensive US House primary in history.

Claim: Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie are forming a new party

Former CIA officer Kevin Shipp shared a photo on Thursday, May 21, declaring an end to corruption in both major parties. His X post included the caption, "Get ready people. A third Independent party is unfolding. Time is up for the grotesque corruption of the GOP and DNC."

At the time of writing, the post had garnered over 137.1k views, 1.6k comments, and 6.5k likes. This sparked widespread speculation about the claim, with users quickly sharing differing reactions.

One user wrote, "A third party owned by the American people is the only way out of this mess."

Another disagreed, saying, "If you fall for this you are a fool. All that a third party will do is put the democrats back in power and it's over for all of us. These two are as shameful as Kamala and whoever that gay guy was that ran with her."

Another commenter added, "So we will just add a bigger corrupt party😂."

Fact Check: No reports support claim that Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene are forming a party

The claim surfaced after Thomas Massie’s electoral defeat, with Marjorie Taylor Greene criticizing the outcome and arguing it damaged the GOP’s future.

They previously worked together on issues such as pushing for the release of Epstein-related files. The development has fueled frustration among some libertarian-leaning and “America First” critics of Republican leadership, prompting renewed discussion about possible political alternatives.

However, there is no evidence that Massie and Greene are creating or organizing a new political party. No announcements, official filings, leadership structure, candidate list, or formal organizing efforts tied to a national third party have been identified.

Massie has also not announced any such plans and has instead focused on his farm and policy principles. While some online discussion speculates about a potential 2028 run, prediction markets still assign low odds even for a GOP bid.

The reaction reflects genuine dissatisfaction and long-standing anti-establishment sentiment, but describing a new party as already “unfolding” is unsupported and premature.
