Fact Check: Did Obama say ‘Christian God sent Trump before he could convert US to Islam'?
WASHINGTON, DC: A rumor is circulating on social media platforms claiming that former President Barack Obama said that he planned to destroy America and convert it to Islam, which failed after President Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The claim has sparked concern and speculation online, with many calling for a fact-check.
Claim: Barack Obama said God sent Donald Trump

The claim spread as an X post in the form of a photo of Obama along with overlay text, according to which the former president allegedly said, “My plan was to destroy America and convert you to Islam, and then your Christian God sent Donald Trump to ruin it.”
The post has garnered almost 100,000 views as of this writing, with many slamming the Democrat and saying they believe the quote is an authentic remark by Obama. Meanwhile, some remained skeptical, and a few others dismissed it as fake and called for a fact-check.
Fact Check: Barack Obama made no such remark

The claim, however, is false, as there is no evidence the former president made such a controversial remark.
There are no publicly available transcripts, statements, speeches, interviews, or social media posts from Obama admitting that he planned to convert America into Islam before Trump’s presidency ruined it.
If Obama had made such a statement, prominent national and international news outlets would have covered it widely, making headlines and triggering nationwide backlash. A Google search for the claim also yielded no credible reports.
The search revealed that the claim has been circulating online for a year and has resurfaced now.
Donald Trump renews feud with Barack Obama

The quote resurfaced after Trump reignited his long-running feud with Obama, after the 80-year-old president called Obama a "grossly incompetent President."
Obama attacked Trump's Iran nuclear deal and his support for Democratic candidates ahead of the midterms, following Obama’s criticism of Trump's war with Iran and his White House renovation projects, which the former president mocked by comparing the building's appearance to "Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory."
Trump took to Truth Social, accusing Obama of paying Iran billions of dollars and giving the country a path to developing nuclear weapons.
He then mocked Obama's record on the campaign trail, pointing to his support for former Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris, both of whom lost their presidential bids.
