WASHINGTON, DC: A viral X (formerly Twitter) post has sparked fresh speculation by claiming that Sen John Kennedy is demanding an investigation into Bill Gates over an alleged $1.3 billion Covid-related fraud.

The claim has circulated widely across social media since early 2026, fueling heated reactions from users who called for scrutiny of Gates’ role in pandemic-related issues while also linking the discussion to broader conspiracy-driven claims and demands for accountability.

Claim: John Kennedy called for an investigation into Bill Gates

X user @davidJHarrisJr shared a post featuring the caption, “Sen Kennedy calls for Bill Gates to be investigated for $1.3B in alleged COVID fraud!” alongside a dramatic “BREAKING” graphic. At the time of writing, the post had attracted more than 84,500 views, over 14,000 likes, and numerous comments from users debating the allegation.

The claim surfaced in late May 2026 as Gates continued to face heightened public scrutiny over multiple controversies. Reports indicated that Gates was scheduled to testify before Congress in June 2026 regarding his past ties to Jeffrey Epstein, while the Gates Foundation had also launched an internal review related to those connections.

These developments kept Gates at the center of online discussion, particularly among those who frequently connect him to pandemic policies, global health initiatives, and elite influence networks. The reference to a $1.3 billion figure particularly appeared to resonate with broader public frustrations over wealth accumulation and government spending during the pandemic period.

Fact Check: No evidence of John Kennedy calling for investigation into Bill Gates

The claim that Sen John Kennedy called for an investigation into Bill Gates over Covid-related fraud is false. There is no evidence in official Senate records, press releases, public statements, videos, or transcripts showing that Kennedy made such a demand.

A review of Kennedy’s official Senate website and recent communications also reveals no mention of Bill Gates in connection with a Covid fraud investigation or the alleged $1.3 billion figure.

Although Kennedy has publicly criticized fraud, waste, and government spending tied to the Covid pandemic, he has never specifically linked those concerns to Gates. The viral graphic and accompanying claim have circulated online as a recurring meme or hoax since at least early 2026 and have repeatedly resurfaced for engagement despite lacking factual support.
