WASHINGTON, DC: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have once again become the subject of a viral social media claim, this time over an alleged quote from the 'Lover' singer's wedding vows.

Posts circulating online claim Swift praised Kelce's kindness, saying he was the kind of person she wished she had known in high school because, despite being a star athlete, he sat with less popular students. But did she actually make this heartfelt statement in her wedding vows?

Claim: Taylor Swift said she'd like to know Travis Kelce in high school in her wedding vows

As rumors and alleged quotes surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding continue to circulate online, a new claim about Swift's wedding vows has gone viral. A fan account on X (formerly Twitter) shared a post claiming that Swift said in her vows, "Travis Kelce is the type of person she'd like to know in high school."

The post further alleged that the pop star said, "He was the star athlete in high school, yet he sat with the less popular kids."

Another source expanded on the purported quote, claiming, "Taylor talked about how Travis was the guy in high school who, even though he was the star athlete, would go sit with the less-popular kids who were being bullied at lunchtime. Taylor said she wished she had known someone like that when she was in high school. It was so special." The same source also alleged that "Travis was very emotional during the vows."

To provide context, Swift and Kelce married on Friday, July 3, at Madison Square Garden in front of family, friends, and several celebrities, including Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Jennifer Lopez, and others.

The claim is true. Multiple credible outlets, including CBS Mornings, citing People editor Charlotte Triggs, and sources who spoke to People magazine, reported that Taylor Swift said in her self-written wedding vows that Travis Kelce was a star athlete in high school who sat with less popular students. She also reportedly said she wished she had known someone like him during her own high school years.

The same reports state that Swift and Kelce each wrote their own vows, which lasted about 20 minutes and were read from gold-bound books. Guests described the vows as heartfelt, emotional, and deeply personal. Although no full transcript of the vows has been released publicly, multiple reputable outlets consistently reported this specific anecdote without contradiction.

Two wedding guests who spoke to NBC News also confirmed that the couple personally wrote their vows, with Swift reportedly singing portions of hers. One guest told the outlet that Kelce, rather than Swift, became more emotional during the ceremony. Despite hosting an estimated 1,000 guests, the couple also took time to greet attendees throughout the reception and personally thanked them for celebrating their wedding.
