WASHINGTON, DC: Amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East following a fragile peace deal with Iran, a rumor has been circulating on social media platforms claiming that President Donald Trump has asked his followers to publicly pin a “Trust in Trump” badge.

The claim has sparked widespread speculation. Here’s a fact check.

Claim: Trump asked his supporters to wear 'Trust in Trump' pin

The claim surfaced on X, with a photo showing a shield-shaped badge that has a portrait of the president (@SpencerHakimian/X)

The post carried a caption stating, “JUST IN: TRUMP DEMANDS ALL HIS SUPPORTERS PIN THIS TO THEIR CLOTHES IN PUBLIC,” and has been amplified by various accounts on X.

The claim emerged after the official X account of the White House shared the image of the badge, stating, “If you've never been a panican... this pin's for you.”

The claim has triggered mixed reactions from users, with many criticizing the alleged move, while others expressed support, indicating they believe the claim to be authentic.

Fact Check: False, Trump never made such a demand

However, there is no evidence that Trump asked his supporters to pin the badge on their clothes in public.

A Google search for the claim yielded no relevant results, which further suggests that, if true, it would have been widely covered by prominent news outlets.

There are also no official statements from the White House or the Trump administration supporting the claim.

A fact check by Grok stated, “No, Trump did not say that—he did not 'demand' that all supporters publicly wear the 'Trust in Trump' shield pin (or any similar item) on their clothes."

"The original X post from @SpencerHakimian dramatically frames it as a demand or requirement, but that's hyperbolic spin.”

The claim surfaced after Trump recorded the lowest job approval rating of his second term, with just 37% of Americans approving of his performance and 63% disapproving, according to a new NBC News Decision Desk poll.

Half of the respondents said they strongly disapprove, signaling intensifying dissatisfaction with the administration’s direction.

The poll highlights widespread concern over the economy, with inflation and the rising cost of living emerging as the most pressing issues for voters.

Only 32% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of inflation, while 68% disapprove. Gas prices are also a major concern, with nearly two-thirds of respondents saying they are a burden on their families.
