WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump is well-known for frequently praising himself, often in hyperbolic terms regarding his work ethic, achievements, intelligence, or performance in office. It is a consistent pattern throughout his political career, from his first term to now, during his second presidency.

Recently, a rumor circulated online claiming that Trump said if he could come back as anyone else in history, he would choose himself. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Trump says if he could come back as anyone else in history, he would choose himself

On Friday, March 13, an X account came up with a post that claimed, "BREAKING: Trump says if he could come back as anyone else in history, he would choose himself."

The viral post garnered more than 200,000 views on X, and more than 5,000 users liked the post at the time of filing this story.

Trump has often been optimistic about himself and has praised himself in the past. In response to rumors about cognitive decline, the POTUS posted on Truth Social something along the lines of, "There has never been a President that has worked as hard as me!", while emphasizing his long hours and top-tier results.

Similarly, during a recent speech to House Republicans in Florida, a moment of self-praise went viral, as clips circulated widely on YouTube and Instagram under titles like 'Trump's epic 'self-brag'.'

Moreover, in remarks amid ongoing events such as the US-Iran conflict, he described his own performance as 'extraordinary', and jokingly rated himself 'between 12 and 15' out of 10.

Fact Check: True, Trump said this during an interview with Jake Paul

The claim made in the viral X post is true, and Donald Trump did make the above-mentioned statement during a recently held interview with Jake Paul.

The boxer/content creator asked the POTUS, "If he could reincarnate or come back in history as anyone else to experience their life, who would he choose?"

"That's a very interesting question. Maybe Donald Trump, right now. I think Donald Trump. My life is very exciting! I'm thinking about other lives, I think my life [is the best]," Trump answered.

The President essentially chose himself, emphasizing how exciting and fulfilling his own life has been.

Interestingly, Trump's recent remark is consistent with his long history of bold self-praise, like calling himself 'the chosen one' in 2019 or claiming to be the hardest-working president ever.

Furthermore, no evidence suggests the quote was fabricated or taken out of context, as multiple independent clips and transcripts align.
