WASHINGTON, DC: Amid ongoing public tensions between President Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson, a viral claim has surfaced online alleging that Trump said Carlson did not even finish college and even suggested he see a psychiatrist. Is this true? Let’s fact-check the claim.

Claim: Trump asked Tucker Carlson to see a psychiatrist

The claim originated from an X user, GBX_Press, who labeled the post as “Breaking.” The post included an alleged quote attributed to Donald Trump: “Trump: Tucker Carlson didn't even finish college...Maybe he should see a good psychiatrist."

It quickly gained traction and spread across multiple platforms. The post also featured an image of Trump alongside Tucker Carlson.

The viral claim surfaced days after tensions between Trump and Carlson became public. Carlson had accused Trump of pushing the United States toward a potential nuclear conflict, prompting a sharp response from Trump.

On Tuesday, April 7, Trump described Carlson as having a “low IQ” in an interview with the New York Post. “Tucker’s a low-IQ person that has absolutely no idea what’s going on,” Trump said. “He calls me all the time; I don’t respond to his calls. I don’t deal with him.”

He added, “I like dealing with smart people, not fools.” These remarks marked one of Trump’s most direct public breakups with a former ally who once played a key role in amplifying his messaging to a large audience.

Several rumors circulated online after a Truth Social post by Donald Trump. Still, the claim that he told Tucker Carlson to see a psychiatrist is true, as it appears directly in the post itself rather than being a fabricated statement.

In the message, Trump criticized Carlson, stating, "Tucker Carlson, who couldn’t even finish College, he was a broken man when he got fired from Fox, and he’s never been the same — Perhaps he should see a good psychiatrist!"

In the same lengthy post, Trump also targeted other conservative media figures, including Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones. He accused them of consistently opposing him, criticized their views on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and referred to them as “low IQ” individuals and “troublemakers” seeking attention. He also claimed they had been pushed out of mainstream media and were no longer influential.

The post reflects broader political tensions over US policy toward Iran, with Trump and his critics divided over his rhetoric and warnings about potential military escalation before a temporary ceasefire was reached.
