Fact Check: Did Trump shut down journalist questioning his foreign election interference claims?
WASHINGTON, DC: As the midterm elections are only a few days away, a rumor began circulating on social media platforms claiming that President Donald Trump had a heated exchange with a journalist over the claim of election interference by China, Russia, and Iran.
The claim has sparked criticism and speculation, with many calling for a fact-check of the rumor.
Claim: Donald Trump had an exchange with a journalist

The claim surfaced as a post on X, in which Trump said, “China, Russia, and Iran hacked our election under Democrats."
In response to this alleged statement, a journalist asked, “If what you said tonight is backed up by evidence, why hasn’t anyone been charged?" to which Trump replied, “Next question, please.”
The post has garnered hundreds of thousands of views as of this writing, with many appearing to believe the claim, while a few others dismissed it as fake and called for a fact check.
Fact Check: The claim originated as satire

The claim, however, is false, as there are no records of such an exchange between the president and a journalist.
Although Trump had alleged election interference by various foreign powers, including China, there is no evidence of him making the exact statement. There is also no evidence of a journalist asking him for evidence to prove his election interference claim.
There are no recent official statements, press conferences, interviews, or social media posts by the president that support the claim.
If the exchange had really taken place, prominent news media outlets would have widely covered it, but a search on Google for the claim returned no relevant results.
Additionally, the claim originated from an X handle called ‘InfoGram,’ which describes itself in the bio as ‘satire.’
James Carville warns Democrats of limited power after midterm win

The claim surfaced as several polls suggest that Democrats may have an edge in the upcoming election, while political strategist James Carville warned that Democrats may not have real power even if they secure victory.
Speaking to CNN’s Brianna Keilar on Friday, October 23, Carville said that Democrats would face a difficult situation because they would not have the support of the White House and highlighted that the Supreme Court is “rigged” in Trump’s favor.
“First, you pass a package the first day you come in, ban stock trades by members of Congress. I’m sorry, that’s low-hanging fruit. Do it. Corruption is a huge issue out there. Show that you take it seriously,” Carville said.
