The viral image with millions of views has been circulating on X, amid the closed-door deposition of Hillary Clinton in the Jeffrey Epstein probe.
The image allegedly shows young Hillary Clinton and her husband photographed alongside the late financier and his associate, Maxwell.
The image is shared with the intention of countering Mrs. Clinton’s claim that she does not believe she ever met Epstein.
While many in the comments appeared to believe the photo to be authentic, a few others expressed scepticism.
Fact Check: Fake, woman in the image is Jane Slagsvol
However, the image is fake, and the young woman in the photo is not Hillary Clinton and is, in fact, Jane Slagsvol. The original image shows singer Jimmy Buffet who is being redacted from the viral image, along with his wife Slagsvol, Bill Clinton, Epstein, and Maxwell.
The photo that includes the signature of the former president was part of the Epstein estate.
No other details about the photo, including when it was taken, are available. However, Epstein’s ‘black book’ listed Buffet as one of the celebrities invited to his Palm Beach, Florida, home in 1995 for a Clinton fundraiser.
Hillary Clinton denies Epstein ties and slams Republican probe
During the videotaped interview, which took place in Chappaqua, New York, where the Clintons maintain a residence, Clinton told the House Oversight Committee that she had 'no new information' about Jeffrey Epstein or his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell, while sharply criticizing Republicans for what she described as politically motivated investigations.
“I had no idea about their criminal activities,” Clinton said in an opening statement posted on X and delivered during a closed-door deposition.
“I do not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island home or offices,” she said.
Hillary Clinton accused the committee of 'partisan political theater,' which she said is an 'abdication of duty and an insult to the American people.'
She said the committee had chosen to depose her, even though she said she had never met Epstein and had no knowledge of his crimes, as a way to distract from and cover up President Trump's actions.
