Fact Check: False, no evidence to back the claim
The claims made in the viral X post are false, as there is no credible evidence to prove that Barack Obama is on the run and has quietly applied for political asylum in the UK.
No credible news outlets, UK government statements, US State Department announcements, or official records have reported this. Online searches show only copies of the viral X post.
If the claim were true, it would have dominated global headlines, but there is zero confirmation from credible media outlets or any reputable source. Hence, the claim is fake.
The X account fits a pattern of posting unsourced "BREAKING" claims for engagement. There is no State Department action, no UK asylum grant, no confirmed mansion, and no Obama indictment.
The Russiagate, or Trump-Russia investigation, refers to the 2016–2019 probes into whether the Russian government interfered in the US presidential election and whether anyone in President Donald Trump's campaign coordinated with that effort.
It originated in mid-2016 during the election campaign and evolved into the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane counterintelligence investigation, the Mueller Special Counsel probe, and related congressional inquiries.
