The claim surfaced in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, January 24, on a page called Hoops Crave. It contained an image of Oprah, accompanied by a caption saying, “Oprah Winfrey is reportedly pregnant.”
As of this writing, the post has garnered over 82.9k views within a span of three hours. The claim has also spread on other social media platforms such as Facebook.
Fact Check: The claim originated as a satire
The claim, however, is false, as the page that posted it, Hoops Crave, is a parody account known for sharing satirical posts for entertainment purposes. The page’s bio states, "Parody account not affiliated with @PopCrave."
A search on Google does not generate any appropriate results supporting the claim that the 71-year-old is pregnant. Also, no credible news media outlets have reported on the rumor.
A fact check by Grok, the AI assistant of X, has also debunked the claim, stating, “Fact check: No credible sources report Oprah Winfrey, aged 72, being pregnant in 2026."
"Recent rumors stem from clickbait and parody posts; they've been debunked on social media. Her only pregnancy was at age 14, resulting in a son who died shortly after birth," it added.
Oprah Winfrey's tragic pregnancy
Over a decade ago, Oprah opened up about her painful past when she became pregnant at the age of 14.
"I was raped at nine years old by a cousin, then again by another family member, and another family member," the famed talk show host reportedly said, adding that she tried to hide her pregnancy at 14 because she felt so much "pain and shame."
Oprah gave birth to a son, who died in the hospital weeks later.
"I took to my bed and cried for three days. I felt devastated. Wounded. Betrayed. How could this person do this to me?" she wrote in the February 2007 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine.
