WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump's upcoming summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Friday, August 15, in Alaska is expected to focus on securing a Ukraine ceasefire agreement.

Amid this, a rumor has surfaced across social media claiming that Vladimir Putin will gift first lady Melania Trump a Romanov-era emerald ring set with diamonds during the summit. But is there any truth to this? Let's find out below.

Claim: Vladimir Putin to gift Melania Trump Romanov-era emerald ring set with diamonds

Multiple posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) have claimed that Vladimir Putin will gift Melania Trump a Romanov-era emerald ring set with diamonds during the summit on Friday.

Moreover, some users also included images or speculative commentary.

X user @Whiplash437 shared the picture of a ring and captioned the post, "PUTIN TO GIVE MELANIA SPECIAL PIECE OF JEWELRY. According to inside sources the Russian President will gift the First Lady with a stunning rare Romanov era emerald ring set in a cluster of diamonds."

Similarly, @SantaSurfing also posted the same picture, along with a picture of Melania and Donald Trump, and wrote, "Melania is the Queen of Tartaria. She will be gifted an Emerald Diamond Ring by Putin! Emerald Diamond Ring …was it a part of her family heirloom that was savagely taken away and to be returned?"

Another user added, "My takeaway is…the old financial guard is done! All assets seized from the Rothchild’s that had her family killed! In chess, the Queen protects the King! Are we entering the Emerald City to uncover who the man behind the curtain that’s been controlling the world? This Trump Putin Summit will be Big!"

The same rumor was further shared by X users such as @isource_news @The_Vanta_Cat, @WilliamAlbrech, @Qripple_and @TheCryptoBull11. Some also added that Melania Trump was getting the ring due to her history with the Romanavos.

False: Viral claim lacks confirmation from credible sources

The claims made in the viral posts are false, as the rumor lacks confirmation from credible sources.

A post by X user @CathyMasci805 mentioned the absence of official statements from the Kremlin or the White House, and no major news outlets, such as ABC News, New York Post, The Hill, covering the Trump-Putin summit, have mentioned anything regarding the gift.

She wrote, "There is no official confirmation from credible sources—such as statements from the Kremlin or the White House —indicating that Vladimir Putin has plans to gift a Romanov-era emerald ring to Melania Trump."

Moreover, the claim primarily relies on vague "inside sources", which undermines its credibility.

The Trump-Putin summit, which will be held on August 15 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, focuses on the Russia-Ukraine war, with the POTUS emphasizing a ceasefire and threatening "severe consequences" if Putin does not comply.

Therefore, gifting a high-value Romanov-era jewel, though possible, is diplomatically unusual given the US-Russia tensions and ethical concerns about such gifts.

Furthermore, the Romanov-era jewelry, like pieces in the Kremlin’s Diamond Fund, is historically significant, but no specific ring matching the description in the viral posts is documented as part of Putin’s gift plans.

The viral post carries misinformation

The claim’s viral spread and lack of evidence suggest that it may be misinformation or a publicity stunt to capitalize on the summit’s high profile.

Moreover, the X posts cannot be considered conclusive evidence, and the absence of mainstream coverage reinforces the need for caution.

Therefore, the viral claim about Vladimir Putin gifting Melania Trump a Romanov-era emerald ring is unverified and likely false, as it lacks corroboration from credible sources like the Kremlin, the White House, or major news outlets.

Meanwhile, the viral trend seems to be fueled by speculation and sensationalism instead of factual reporting.
