WASHINGTON, DC: Hunter Biden is refusing to back down after receiving a $1 billion legal notice from Melania Trump over remarks linking her to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The dispute stems from an interview earlier this month in which Biden claimed Jeffery Epstein introduced the first lady to Donald Trump, an allegation Melania Trump strongly denies.

Hunter Biden brushes off $1 billion legal notice

When journalist Andrew Callaghan told Hunter Biden that Melania Trump was seeking $1 billion in damages and a formal apology, Biden dismissed the request. “Uh, f**k that, not going to happen,” he said.

Biden insisted he was repeating claims he had “heard and seen reported and written primarily from Michael Wolff, but also dating back to 2019,” citing publications including The New York Times and Vanity Fair.

“I also think they’re bullies, and they think that a billion dollars is going to scare me,” Biden added.

He went further, saying, “If they want to sit down for a deposition and clarify the nature of the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein – if the president, the first lady, want to do that, and all of the known associates around them at the time of whatever time that they met – I’m more than happy to provide them the platform to be able to do it.”

Melania Trump demands retraction over Jeffrey Epstein remarks

Melania Trump’s lawyer, Alejandro Brito, said in a letter to Hunter Biden that the statements were “false, defamatory and extremely salacious,” and had caused her “overwhelming financial and reputational harm.”

Biden made the comments during an interview with Andrew Callaghan, accusing “elites” and members of the Democratic Party of undermining his father before he dropped out of last year’s presidential race.

“Epstein introduced Melania to Trump. The connections are, like, so wide and deep,” Biden said, attributing the claim to author Michael Wolff. Donald Trump has accused Wolff of fabricating stories to sell books.

Brito’s letter demanded that Biden “immediately retract the false, defamatory, disparaging and inflammatory statements made about Mrs Trump,” which appeared in a “Channel 5” video published to YouTube in early August.

“Failure to comply will leave Mrs Trump with no choice but to pursue any and all legal rights and remedies available to her,” Brito warned.

Internet reacts to Hunter Biden’s defiance over Melania Trump lawsuit threat

Hunter Biden’s refusal to retract his Jeffrey Epstein remarks about Melania drew divided reactions online. Some social media users criticized him for his stance, while others expressed unexpected support.

"Wild how a $1B threat over gossip moves faster than decades of survivor pleas to release the Epstein files," wrote one on X.

Another one wrote, "Bad move Hunter. You obviously still think you are above the law. Welp, you're not and about to find I that out exactly."

One said, "Spoken like a true degenerate who has never suffered any real consequences for his actions because the Big Guy was always there to break his fall & cushion the blow."

"That should be a great legal argument," wrote another.

"Make him pay Melania," pleaded one, while another wrote, "I’m really starting to like Hunter."

"Imagine the implications of Melania's deposition questions and her answers; this could exacerbate issues for Trump concerning his connections to Epsteinphiles... -DW," one more wrote.
