WASHINGTON, DC: As Nancy Guthrie's disappearance continues to torment her loved ones, Donald Trump said he remains hopeful that law enforcement will find the missing mother.
The 86-year-old mother of host Savannah Guthrie has not been seen since she was allegedly abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona, in the early hours of February 1.
She was last seen on the evening of January 31 after being dropped off at her home following a family game night at her daughter Annie's residence.
Trump addresses search for missing Nancy Guthrie
The 80-year-old president was speaking with reporters after landing in Pennsylvania for a speech on Tuesday, June 23, when he was asked about the latest developments in the case and whether there was any hope investigators would find her.
"I hope they find her," Trump replied. "I mean, Savannah's gone through a rough, that family's gone through hell. I hope they find her."
From the outset of the case, Trump has voiced support and sympathy for the Guthrie family as they search for answers.
Shortly after her mother went missing in February, the president contacted Savannah to offer his support. At that time, Trump told the NY Post that the perpetrators would face "very, very severe, the most severe" consequences if Nancy was found dead.
Trump’s comments came after it was revealed that a ransom note believed to have been sent by Nancy’s kidnappers claimed she had died.
The second note, written in a "new, less confident tone" and delivered to the Guthrie family's home on February 6 from the same IP address as the initial, seemingly credible emails, said that Nancy had been accidentally killed and offered to return her body to the family for $4 million.

During a live 'Today' show broadcast, Savannah shared an emotional plea regarding her mother's investigation after co-host Craig Melvin delivered an update on the case.
"I love you guys, and I love this place," Savannah, 54, said as she wiped away tears. "This is unusual and unprecedented, to say the least, to be sitting here."

"But I can't pretend I'm not here," she continued. "And so since I am, I wanted to just take the opportunity to ask people, really to beg people, to come forward. Somebody knows something."
Speaking about the emotional impact of her mother's disappearance, Savannah said, "This is a new story that today is on your radar, but this is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day. And we are in agony and we cannot be at peace."
Savannah concluded by reminding viewers that a $1 million reward remains available for information about Nancy's whereabouts.
"So please, if you're watching, no matter how small, the reward is there," she said. "You can tell us. It can be anonymous. Please do the right thing for us, for our family, for our children. We love our mom, and we'll never stop looking for her ever."
