SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: The family of a San Francisco police officer, Isaac Espinoza, who was fatally shot in 2004, has stated they will not support Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of prioritizing politics over justice.

They noted that Donald Trump is the "better option" for police departments nationwide.

The 29-year-old cop was fatally shot by David Hill, a 21-year-old gang member, during a traffic stop in San Francisco's Bayview District on the night before Easter.

Kamala Harris announced she would not seek death penalty for Isaac Espinoza's killer

Just months into her tenure as San Francisco's District Attorney, Kamala Harris appeared on television to announce that she would not seek the death penalty for Isaac Espinoza's killer, a decision made just three days after the tragic incident and prior to consulting with the bereaved family.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Edgar Mendez, the brother of the slain police officer's widow Renata Espinoza, said, "She just went ahead and announced it. She seemed more focused on fulfilling a campaign promise as opposed to showing compassion, reaching out to family, and really being on the side of justice."

Mendez granted an interview with the outlet upon his sister's consent, who has been overwhelmed with media inquiries, noted that their family is "certainly not" supporting Harris in November.

He declared, "We are proudly supporting President Trump. We believe he’s the better option for us and for police departments locally and throughout the country as well."

While some view the former president as a "threat" to democracy, Mendez contends that Harris disregarded democratic principles in 2004 by not prosecuting Hill to the fullest extent of the law, according to his statement to the media.

During her campaign for District Attorney, the Democratic presidential nominee vowed not to pursue the death penalty, a stance she maintained even after Espinoza's shooting, contrary to the position of many California Democrats.

Kamala Harris' controversial decision ignited a feud with police unions

Then-Senator Dianne Feinstein later stated that had she been aware of Kamala Harris' opposition to the death penalty in such "special circumstances," she might not have endorsed her for DA.

This decision ignited a feud with police unions that lasted for years.

Gary Delagnes, the president of the San Francisco Police Officers Association, said during Harris' 2020 presidential campaign, "I’m standing there and I’m going, 'Oh my God.'"

He added, "The kid’s not even in the ground yet. You’re thinking to yourself, OK, is she sorry that this kid died or is this just a political opportunity? Is this just an opportunity for her to double down on the fact she’s not going to pursue the death penalty?"

In 2019, Espinoza's widow expressed disbelief to the media that the announcement was made before her high school sweetheart was laid to rest and before she received a phone call.

Renata expressed, "I felt like she had just taken something from us. She had just taken justice from us. From Isaac. She was only thinking of herself … I was in disbelief that she had gone on and already made her decision to not seek the death penalty for my husband."

Internet agrees with Isaac Espinoza's family's thoughts on Kamala Harris

Netizens agreed with the statement of Isaac Espinoza's family regarding their reason for not supporting Kamala Harris.

One wrote, "Harris and her handlers are extremely dangerous," and another claimed, "Harris puts agenda above what is right."

A person remarked, "Neither Kamala nor Walz support police, in fact they advocate for defunding the police! Remember that among other things when you vote!"

"She does not support police.or consequences for any newcomers breaking the law we have to look at her record and lack of policy since beginning her run," stated someone else, slamming Harris.

"She is so not qualified to be VP let alone President. And I’m not a Trump fan either," declared one more, while another person chimed in, "She's pro defunding police while bailing out violent criminals. That's a simple fact and very easy to look up if you doubt it. Also, Joe is sane and Jussie is innocent according to her."
