FBI expert says blood voids suggest Nancy Guthrie was ‘wrapped in something’ during abduction
TUCSON, ARIZONA: As the investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie enters its second month, a retired FBI special agent has provided an analysis of the evidence found outside Guthrie's home.
The expert suggests that blood spatter patterns outside the residence of Nancy indicate the missing elderly woman did not leave the property on her own.
FBI expert analyzes blood pattern in case
Retired FBI special agent Maureen O’Connell shared her opinion on the case during an appearance on the 'Brian Entin Investigates' show.
She explained that the way blood is laid out on the ground can tell a story about how a person moved or was moved.
O’Connell noted that there were no "voids" in the blood pattern, which would usually happen if someone were walking through it.
“I doubt that she walked out because there were no voids,” O’Connell said. “So, let’s say the pattern of the blood is concentrated here, but the sphere is this big, it’s round, you would have a void here from one foot or from another foot or from something. There don’t appear to be any voids.”
FBI expert says Nancy Guthrie was carried
Because the blood pattern was not broken by footsteps, O'Connell concluded that Nancy was likely being held or wrapped when she was taken from the house.
“So for me, it was in my mind she’s wrapped up in something and they’re carrying her out,” O’Connell continued.
She added that the blood droplets’ shape could also be another clue. “The shape of the blood droplets – they’re all round and the sphere is intact. That means it went straight down. It wasn’t moving at speed.”
$1M reward offered in Nancy Guthrie case
It should be noted that Nancy was last seen on January 31 at her home in Catalina Foothills after being dropped off by her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni.
The family reported her missing the next day when she failed to attend a virtual church service.
Since then, her family has offered a $1 million reward for information, but leads have remained very limited.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to help find Savannah Guthrie’s mother.
