WASHINGTON, DC: This week, First Lady Melania Trump took to social media platform X to highlight what she’s achieved in 2025.

She talked about her role in getting new laws passed and making sure children’s programs got the funding they needed.

Supporters say she’s had a busy, effective year, with her efforts making a real mark during her husband’s second term.

Her role in the ‘Take It Down Act’

At the top of Melania’s list of achievements is her push for the ‘Take It Down Act.’

This bipartisan bill, signed into law in May, cracks down on people who share intimate photos or videos without consent.

Aimed at strengthening federal penalties for the online distribution of nonconsensual intimate imagery, often referred to as revenge porn. The new law forces websites and platforms to take down this kind of content within 48 hours if someone asks.

It also makes it a crime to share explicit material without permission, covering even AI-generated deepfakes.

Melania Trump played a visible role in advancing the legislation through Congress. She was seen lobbying for the law’s passage on Capitol Hill, traveling to meet lawmakers and share stories from victims during a roundtable discussion earlier in the year.

The bill was sponsored by Sen Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn, and received overwhelming bipartisan support.

Melania Trump also participated in a Capitol Hill roundtable with lawmakers and young women whose explicit images had been shared online without their consent.

Child welfare and education initiatives highlighted

Along with the revenge-porn law, Melania’s 2025 brought a handful of projects focused on kids’ welfare and education.

She mentioned rolling out an executive order called 'Fostering the Future for American Children & Families,' whose goal was to make foster care stronger and give families better support.

Her advocacy aligned with the 'Be Best' initiative she launched during the president's first term, which focuses on children's well-being, online behavior, and public health issues.

The First Lady’s 2025 update touched on her work overseas too.

She played a key role in reuniting Ukrainian and Russian children with their families, using diplomatic back channels to make it happen.

She also kicked off a global coalition at the United Nations General Assembly, zeroing in on child welfare, education, and family support around the world.

The coalition is framed as an international partnership focused on child welfare, education, and family support initiatives involving multiple countries.

A film about the First Lady and the president as they prepared to move into the White House for a second term is set to hit theaters next month.
