Florida police urge for help to find Cameron Sutton

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office made the warrant public on Wednesday, March 20, and appealed for help to find the missing athlete.

As per media reports, Sutton owns a property in nearby Pinellas County, but he wasn’t seen there and has yet to respond to calls from authorities.

"We tried to make contact with (Sutton). We've called him, no answer. He's been ducking us. Our deputies have exhausted all leads here," noted public affairs official Phil Martello.

He added, "He's got vehicles and a home in a county one over from us and he's not been there and we've not been able to catch him there. So, again, it seems like he's turned his phone off or gotten rid of his phone or something because we haven't been able to get ahold of him."

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions issued a statement, which said, "We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time."

Cameron Sutton's alleged victim sustained multiple injuries to her head, neck, and shoulders

As per authorities, they got a call around 4.35 am on March 7 from a house in Lutz, north of Tampa, Florida, where Sutton apparently assaulted a woman before fleeing the scene.

Another sheriff's office spokesperson said there was evidence of wounds on the woman's body, as per ESPN.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office's chief communications officer Amanda Granit elaborated, "We learned that he was in a verbal altercation with an adult female at that home," as per FOX2

She added, "That verbal altercation escalated to a physical altercation where the victim sustained multiple injuries to her head, her neck, her shoulders, and that sparked the 911 call that came from that home."

Granit emphasized, "Domestic violence doesn’t have a place in our community or any community. It doesn’t matter who you are, no one is above the law. And that’s really the message here today – that Cameron Sutton needs to turn himself in, and we need to get to the bottom of everything that transpired on the 7th."

The 29-year-old was part of the Pittsburgh Steelers for six seasons after being picked during the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2023, Sutton signed a three-year contract with the Lions as an unrestricted free agent.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Cameron Sutton is requested to contact the sheriff's office at 813-247-8200.
