'Average college player': Internet mocks Bronny James as he fails to impress scouts ahead of NBA Draft

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It was not a memorable freshman season for Bronny James at USC as he is not getting the love and attention while he gears up for the NBA Draft.

Bronny, the son of the NBA's all-time leading scorer, LeBron James, declared for the NBA Draft last month despite averaging fewer than five points per game with the Trojans. He can still decide to go back to college.

The cardiac arrest that Bronny suffered last summer can potentially be played as a factor as he had been a McDonald's All-American last year in his senior year of high school. Despite dropping 13 points in a scrimmage at the NBA Scouting Combine earlier this week, though, one exhibition is not convincing many.

The scouts were unimpressed with Bronny James

ESPN's Marc Spears read off a list of notes a pair of scouts took of Bronny they had sent him, and not many were great. One scout said to Spears, "If the Lakers don't draft him, I don't see anyone drafting him. Teams will want him on a two-way [contract], and I don't think [James' agency] Klutch will want that."

"Positional athlete. Doesn't function as an elite athlete. Tweener stuck between two positions. Should be a point guard based on his size, but he can't run an offense. He's handicapped as an undersized shooting guard because he can't shoot…" Spears added, per Fox News. "His comp - a poor man's Davion Mitchell. He is not an NBA prospect in my opinion."

There's a chance the Lakers could draft Bronny James

Davion De'Monte Earl Mitchell, the basketball point guard, averaged 15.3 minutes and 5.3 points per game this season. Bronny played 25 games his freshman season and averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

It's been reported, though, that the Lakers, whom his father plays for, could draft Bronny if it would mean keeping LeBron on the team. The draft is two days before Bronny's deadline to opt out of his deal.

Internet users skeptical of Bronny James' talent and ability

Netizens have questioned Bronny's ability to play the game after LeBron's son had a hard time impressing the scouts. One X user opined, "Bronny will be drafted near the end of the first round by a good team that wants LeBron James."

Another said, "Well, you could say the same thing about Chris Wallace. Applying this to a news network." "Maybe he can just go be a star in the NFL then," added one while one echoed, "He’s an average college player." "He’s not even a good college player. Forget the NBA. Undersized. Can’t shoot. Not an elite defender. Average handles. 6’ 1”' wrote one user.
