Former Kamala Harris aide names JD Vance as 'greatest threat' to her vice presidency if chosen as running mate by Donald Trump

WASHINGTON, DC: Ashley Etienne, former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris, suggested that Sen JD Vance (R-Ohio) could pose a significant challenge to the current VP if he is selected by former President and presumed GOP nominee Donald Trump as his running mate in the 2024 election.

According to Fox News, Vance has been considered for the vice presidency along with several other prominent Republicans. However, he is one of only three candidates whose documents were requested for vetting by the Trump campaign.

As a first-time Senator, Vance is also a veteran of the Iraq War and has several years of experience as a venture capitalist in San Francisco. Additionally, he authored the bestselling memoir 'Hillbilly Elegy,' which was adapted into a Netflix film.

During a recent interview with the media house, Trump shared that he has "a pretty good idea" of who his vice presidential pick will be, and confirmed that the announcement would be made in July at the Republican National Convention.

Ashley Etienne's remarks on JD Vance

"I think JD Vance would pose the greatest threat (to) Kamala Harris, in some respects. I mean he's an incredible debater," Etienne told CNN on Friday, June 14. "I think he has this quality that makes him seem palpable to that one to two percent that actually might vote or that is undecided, that will actually pay attention to the debates because most people don't pay attention to the debates."

"I think he's just got a quality about him where he's super smart and sharp and quick-witted," she continued. "I just think it's going to be a challenge to see the two of them face-to-face. I mean, maybe it's just me, but I think he's going to be the greatest threat."

The comments from Etienne, who had also served as deputy assistant to President Biden after his 2020 victory, came at a time when the disapproval rating of VP Harris remains high at 55%, as per a national survey conducted in May by Fox News.

Internet responds to Kamala Harris' vice presidency potentially being challenged

"A preschooler could debate better and accomplish more than her," a user wrote of Harris, responding to the news on the social media platform Facebook.



 

"A rock could pose a threat to her candidacy!" mocked another.

"Anyone is better than her from either side," jibed a user.

"She can’t debate. She only speaks word salads with no meaning and giggles. Air head," chided another user.

"She is the poster child for DEI hires," commented one more user.
