WACO, TEXAS: Christian musician Forrest Frank says he lost nearly 30,000 followers on Instagram after speaking out about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The singer, who has millions of followers across social platforms, shared a heartfelt video last week in which he replayed a clip of Kirk praising his music.

Becoming visibly emotional, Frank told fans he couldn’t continue posting about his songs without first addressing Kirk’s death at Utah Valley University on September 10.

The tribute post quickly went viral, collecting more than one million likes and nearly 20,000 comments. Days later, on September 14, Frank posted another video revealing the social media fallout.

“30,000 people unfollowed me because I posted about Charlie Kirk and I said Jesus Christ is Lord. Good. I don’t want you to follow me,” Frank declared in his second video. He emphasized that his focus was not on fame or numbers but on faith, adding: “I don’t want you following me, streaming my music, or coming to my shows if you don’t follow Jesus."

The singer also reflected on the spiritual weight of recent events. “I don’t know if you can feel it too. There’s a heaviness, something shifted and I don’t care. I just want you to know that Jesus Christ is here and he loves you,” he said.

Frank elaborated further in his caption: “I don’t care if you follow me, but I do care if you follow Jesus. I have nothing else to share but this one message and I repent for ways I’ve allowed my platform to be a lukewarm highlight reel. From here on out I’m using as much energy as I can to let people know about the only thing that matters.”

Forrest Frank receives strong support from fans despite backlash

Despite the backlash, many fans rallied around the musician. “GO FORREST GO!!!!!! THIS MADE ME SMILE,” one supporter commented, while another wrote: “Wow. I got even more respect for you. Wrong is wrong and you got to stand for what’s right even when they hate you for it.” Others thanked him directly for “speaking up” and using his platform to share his beliefs.

Another praised, “Lost 2k today. Frankly if you aren’t losing followers….ah nvm, love y’all! Jesus is KING!”

One added, “And this is why we trust you in our homes and with our kids’ hearts! You are sold out for Jesus and not trying to please man. Keep going!”

A supporter also commented, “I just started following you for your courage and honesty!” applauding the singer’s boldness.

“Thank you for speaking up!” one user gushed.
