NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Secretary of State Antony J Blinken, alongside other prominent officials, held discussions with the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, on Wednesday, December 27, to devise a strategy aimed at mitigating the surge in illegal migration at the southern border of the US.

At a crucial juncture, President Joe Biden deployed these officials to Mexico City as border crossings reached unprecedented levels and there has been escalating pressure on Biden to address, or at the very least, manage a crisis that has emerged as a persistent political challenge.

Following this event, Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham took to X (formerly Twitter) to report on this issue as she took a brutal dig at Blinken and Biden.

However, the internet did not respond positively to Ingraham’s tweet as several X users blasted the anchor, calling her ‘‘hateful.”

Laura Ingraham slams Antony J Blinken after he meets with Mexico’s president

Fox News host Laura Ingraham took to X and wrote, “Presumably, Blinken is going down there to make sure they get enough migrants to vote for Biden in November.”

Ingraham’s tweet featured an article from The New York Times titled, “Blinken Meets With Mexico’s President About Surge in Migration at the Border.”

In the article, it was reported that Secretary of State Antony J Blinken, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Liz Sherwood-Randall, the White House Homeland Security adviser had a two-hour meeting with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to talk about the “unprecedented” migration.

This came following President Joe Biden’s failure to control the migrant crisis. The state of affairs at the border has become one of POTUS’ foremost priorities leading into 2024, especially amid calls from Republicans in Congress for a stringent approach on immigration as a condition for providing wartime aid to Ukraine and Israel.

Moreover, Mexico has played a pivotal role in US initiatives to curb the flow of migration, as it sees people from various parts of the world passing through to the US border.

In recent weeks, the US Border Patrol has encountered over 10,000 individuals per day attempting to cross the border on multiple occasions.

Just prior to the meeting on Wednesday, Obrador expressed the view that the US Congress should extend greater support to Latin America instead of resorting to measures such as "barriers, barbed wire fences on the river, or thinking about building walls."

He said, “It is more efficient and more humane to invest in the development of the people.”

Additionally, Obrador highlighted that the upcoming presidential election in the United States would elevate the migration issue to the forefront of the agenda.

"The migration issue is going to intensify," he remarked.

Internet calls Laura Ingraham ‘hateful’

Soon after Laura Ingraham alleged that Antony J Blinken’s meeting with the Mexican president was to get Joe Biden more migrant voters, several X users bashed the anchor.

One person wrote, “Irresponsible statement. You know that is not possible ... yet you persist in spreading lies,” and another added, “One way to save America - boycott Fox News advertisers.”

One X user slammed Ingraham as they said, “You know only citizens can vote. You're not an idiot but you sure think your viewers are.”

Another angry person lashed out as they wrote, "Goddamn, can't you EVER stop lying? Is that the extent of your 'love' of this country? Fearmongering and falsehoods? Aren't you ever even the tiniest bit ashamed to be spewing this kind of hate?"

An X user took a brutal jab at the host, asking, “Is there no limit to the defamatory lies you tell?” and another wrote, “Why are you so bitter and hateful?”

“You're either incredibly ignorant or you are aware that what you are suggesting can't possibly happen, and you're saying it anyway. Remind us why anyone would ever listen to you,” slammed another.
