WASHINGTON, DC: The former president Donald Trump's in-person appearance on Tuesday, April 16, was described as a "jarring" encounter by a juror who was dismissed from the New York hush money trial, as per The Hill.

As the former president's hush money trial got underway on Monday, April 15, a juror named Kara McGee talked to MSNBC following her dismissal.

Due to schedule issues at work, McGee was released from jury duty and stated that she was sitting 20 to 30 feet away from Trump. She said, "It was odd. It was such an interesting experience because it’s … I had never seen him in person before, you know. And when you see someone blown up so larger than life on the media for so many years — to see them in person is very jarring."

She added, "And you get the sense that it’s like, ‘Oh, this is just another guy.’ And also he sees me talking about him, which is bizarre."

Additionally, McGee told MSNBC that she had said in court that she would not hesitate to treat Trump fairly and impartially. Before reading the questionnaire to Trump and as she got up to leave, she claimed to have made eye contact with Trump. She said that when she was seated in the courtroom, eye contact increased her degree of anxiety.

She said, "It made the whole thing feel more real in a way because, I guess — when you’re on any jury, it’s, you have elements of that person’s future in your hands. So whether it was Trump or whether it was some stranger off the street in Manhattan who I’d never heard of before. If you commit to sitting on the jury, you can change that person’s life forever."

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election.
