WASHINGTON, DC: After a disastrous debate performance on June 27, concerns have been raised about President Joe Biden's age and his ability to lead the country for another four-year term.

Voices are growing within the Democratic party for Biden to step aside and make way for someone else to become the Democratic nominee in the 2024 election.

Many prominent Democrats are now coming together to remove President Biden from the ticket, as per The US Sun

Assuming collective responsibility for previous campaigns and administrations under Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, the group of Democrats has been called the unofficial 'Committee to Unelect the President' by the founder of Axios.

The founders have been interviewing with influential figures in the Republican and Democratic parties for their 'Behind the Curtain' piece, while Biden has had several turbulent weeks in the wake of his first debate with former President Donald Trump.

Even though Biden and Trump are still even in the polls, calls have been made for the incumbent to drop out of the race.

The founders of Axios, Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen, said on Friday, July 12, that a group of "very-connected Democrats" is attempting to keep Biden from being announced as the party's nominee at the August Democratic National Convention.

According to reports, the unofficial Committee to Unelect the President is trying to persuade Biden to step down from the campaign right away. The group of Democratic insiders is reportedly taking five steps to make sure of this.

The five steps are commissioning polls, lobbying former presidents, back-channeling Democratic leaders, organizing donors and pressuring Biden publicly.

The anti-Biden Democrats include former Obama administration aides, Clinton administration advisors, Democratic senators and members of the House, high-profile donors, late-night show hosts, well-known opinion columnists, and Biden's White House aides.

Since everyone participating in the attempt to remove Biden has close links to former presidents, a key member of the unofficial committee told Axios that there is no supreme leadership in the process.

The source stated, "No one is more than one person away from everyone else."

Top donors seek to shift funds away from Joe Biden

Sources told Axios that some major contributors are hoping to redirect their contributions from the President to congressional elections as part of this pressure effort.

According to the report, further actions have included speaking up on social media or television as well as interacting with journalists or columnists.

George Clooney, an actor and ardent supporter of Biden, has publicly called on Biden to resign, stating in the New York Times that the party required a new nominee.

He stated, "I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he’s won many of the battles he’s faced."

He added, "But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe 'big F**king deal' Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate."
