Glenn Close beams as she is honoured at TCL Chinese Theatre with emotional ceremony and ‘paw print'

Glenn Close looked joyous at her Hand & Footprint Ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The legendary actor was surrounded by family, friends and fans. At the ceremony, Close reflected on her decades-long career, from her debut in 'The World According to Garp' to acclaimed roles like 'Dangerous Liaisons.'

At the ceremony, Close spoke about the nature of acting, describing actors as having heightened sensitivity and creative connection. The Oscar nominee shared memories of working with the late Robin Williams and Mary Beth Hurt, whom she affectionately referred to as her ‘beloved best friend of 52 years.’

Close joined the special group of cinema legends whose handprints will be forever kept at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre. Close shared her thoughts on what it’s like to be an actor, likening the job to being an alien. ‘We are members of the alien nation, because I think we have more antennae than maybe some other humans,’ Close said.

Close was joined by her dog Pippi at the ceremony, with the pet’s paw prints also embedded in the cement alongside her handprints and footprints. Her daughter, Annie Starke, gave a speech while holding Close’s grandson, adding a personal and emotional dimension to the event. A moving moment came as she spoke about being a grandmother, calling it a profound joy. 'I love it,' Close said of being a grandmother. 'Every single minute!'

Earlier in her speech, Close also reflected on joining other icons who had their own Hand & Footprint Ceremony in front of the historic theater. The legendary actress was visibly emotional as she reflected on the milestone. "They all had stories of overcoming, of persistence, frequently against the odds who had to balance their public personas against who they really were," she said.
