Trump and Melania bid farewell to King Charles and Camilla as state visit ends

On their last day of the state visit to the US, King Charles III and Queen Camilla received a formal farewell from President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at the White House. The visit was widely regarded as a diplomatic success, helping to refresh the transatlantic relationship despite disagreements over global issues.

As the historic visit came to an end, the couple traveled to Virginia, where they joined local celebrations, including events related to America’s 250th anniversary. Queen Camilla also made a solo visit to a horse farm, reflecting her long-standing interest in equine welfare.

King Charles, President Trump, First Lady Melania, and Queen Camilla concluded their formal visit to the US with a departure ceremony at the South Portico of the White House in Washington, DC. Earlier in the visit, King Charles urged the US to maintain its leadership role in the world and to support Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in a notable speech.

Trump said his warm relationship with the King, strengthened during this week's state visit, could help mend strained ties with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
