Trump returns to Alabama as he recalls his 2015 mega-rally that packed a football stadium: ‘It all sort of began here’
MOBILE, ALABAMA: President Donald Trump returned to Mobile on October 2, revisiting the Alabama city where one of the defining spectacles of his first presidential campaign unfolded more than 11 years ago. But this time, Trump arrived as a sitting president campaigning ahead of the November midterms. Speaking at the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell Center, he sought to boost Republican candidates and turnout, telling supporters to approach the election as though his own name were on the ballot. The location carried obvious symbolism for Trump. In August 2015, just two months after launching his first White House bid, he drew tens of thousands of people to Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium for what became the biggest rally of his young campaign.
