SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA: Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel shared a heartfelt New Year message to Californians, reflecting on the challenges of 2025 and offering hope for 2026. The couple focused on resilience, unity, and renewed energy, presenting a warm and inclusive tone that contrasts with Newsom’s previous post targeting President Donald Trump.

In a video message posted on X, the couple began by greeting, “Happy New Year, California.” Jennifer Siebel Newsom said, “2025 was a year of surprises, a year of challenges and trials. But the challenges of 2025 reminded us of our strength.”

Governor Newsom added, “A reminder that when Californians stand together, shoulder to shoulder, we can meet any challenge. Californians are people of heart, strength, and action, and we saw it again and again.”

Siebel Newsom continued, “This year has also been a time of reflection for many of us, an opportunity to evaluate what our priorities are, what we are willing to stand for, and who we want to be when faced with difficulties.”

Newsom concluded, “And now, with this new year, comes a clean slate, a moment to take a breath, reset, and bring renewed energy to the work ahead. 2026 won’t be passive, it’s a year we’ll make together.”

The couple ended their video by saying together, “Happy New Year,” and Siebel added, “So from our family to yours, we wish you a peaceful and joyful start to the new year.”

Contrast with Gavin Newsom’s previous new year post

The couple’s warm and inclusive message contrasts sharply with Newsom’s earlier New Year post, which targeted President Donald Trump. That post, shared by the governor’s press office, combined a New Year greeting with a pointed critique of Trump’s policies and leadership, written in all caps to mimic Trump’s style

Gavin Newsom’s allegations against Trump

In the prior post, Newsom accused Trump of actions he said harmed Americans, including marching “soldiers into our beautiful cities,” raising taxes “so he can give your money to his rich friends,” and imposing “stupid tariffs.”

He further criticized Trump’s immigration and healthcare policies, claiming the former president was “ripping babies away from their mothers” and “throwing grandmas off their healthcare.” Newsom also alleged that Trump promised federal aid to Los Angeles residents rebuilding homes and then “vanished,” calling him “a total fraud, total coward, and total loser.”

The post also mocked Trump supporters as “deeply disturbed losers suffering from extreme Newsom Derangement Syndrome,” adding that “doctors say it’s curable” but sufferers “like being miserable.”

Through their New Year message, Newsom and Siebel emphasized reflection, resilience, and community spirit. Their message highlighted the importance of standing together, learning from the past year, and approaching 2026 with renewed energy, optimism, and shared purpose.
