NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The January 18 episode of 'The View' had co-hosts Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin discuss a new TikTok trend where people shared their moments of being laid off from their job.

During the discussion, some of the co-hosts shared their tales of being let go, being rather appreciative of the prospect.

Behar mentioned that it was not the case previously when people tried to hide similar news. At present, a woman had even recorded herself being fired over Zoom and later uploaded the clip on social media.

Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar talk about the times they were fired

"I've been fired a lot of times," recalled Hostin. "I was fired from Fridays, O'Henry's Filmworks…"

"But that was with good reason, you spilled all over someone," chimed in Haines, which led to Hostin confessing that she had "showed up at work drunk."

"I got fired from CNN. They called it 'going in a different direction,' but I was fired," continued Hostin.

"Two years later, the direction they went in sucked, and then they hired me back," she said, later adding that she was then ashamed of the experience.

Behar jumped in to say that she had faced a similar situation when she was fired from 'The View' back in 2013. She later returned as a regular host in 2015 and has had a permanent seat at the Hot Topics table since.

Alyssa Farah Griffin did not support publicizing being fired

While Hostin welcomed the idea of sharing the experience of being fired so that those facing it would not feel alone, her co-host Griffin had a different opinion on the matter.

Even though she agreed that people carry a lot of shame over being let go that they feel like they cannot share, she did not favor posting the incident on social media.

"Future employers are going to see it," she stated. "So they are going to see that you got fired, how you handled being fired."

"I just think my generation and Gen Z, we kind of tend to overshare on social media, and we can both afford to pull (back) a little bit," she added.

Griffin had the support of her co-host Haines, who stated that even though she would tell her friends and family, she would always like to be up and ready for her next gig, instead of recording her previous employer.
