LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: George and Amal Clooney, who married in 2014, now live 'separately’ due to their busy work schedules.

Notably, despite their hectic schedules, George and Amal Clooney made a special vow to spend more than a week together.

This arrangement worked effectively until 2022. According to In Touch Weekly, maintaining this agreement has become increasingly challenging over the past few years.

According to the source speaking to In Touch Weekly, George and Clooney are described as "hardcore workaholics, so it's like they’re in their little bubble."

This observation comes as George is preparing to relocate to New York City for a year to star on Broadway—putting him 4,000 miles away from their family's Lake Como villa, where they typically spend most of their time together.

As their 10th wedding anniversary approaches in September, the couple is reportedly starting to feel the strain. "They are in two very different worlds 90 percent of the day. They’re leading separate lives," the source added.

What did George say in 2021? 

George has consistently emphasized the importance of prioritizing his family. "I don't have to act," the Oscar winner stated in 2021. "My wife and I had this conversation when I turned 60. I said, ‘We both love what we do. But we gotta make sure we don’t book ourselves silly'"

However, since then, 63-year-old George has arguably done the opposite. He directed 'The Boys in the Boat' and filmed 'Wolfs' alongside longtime friend Brad Pitt in NYC.

He began shooting another movie with Adam Sandler in Italy earlier this year, all while managing various production projects behind the scenes. 

"George runs his filmmaking operation — from directing and producing to taking acting roles in other people’s projects — like a military general. Geroge's wife shares a similar commitment. Clooney, aged 46, "is often traveling back and forth for work, which can become chaotic," revealed an insider. 

The human rights lawyer is frequently shuttling between London, where she engages with clients, and The Hague, Netherlands, where she contributes to the International Criminal Court. 

In a recent development, Amal disclosed spending the past four months collaborating with international legal experts on a panel, evaluating evidence of suspected war crimes and crimes against humanity in Israel and Gaza, culminating in a comprehensive report supporting a series of arrest warrants. 

"She’s doing so much around the world that most people don’t even know about," notes the insider. "Her career will never take a back seat to George’s career, and she made that clear to him very early on."

Even when they are together at their Italian villa, work remains a constant presence in their lives. 

The source revealed, "Neither of them thinks twice about putting in 18-hour days on projects they’re passionate about."

It further mentioned George's advanced home production facility, "The only time they have to ‘overlap’ is when they’re on vacation. But when you live in Lake Como, the urge to actually take a vacation doesn’t come up that often. They both have their staff and friends, and there’s not a lot of crossover." 

The source added that any free time they do have is spent with their 7-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, rather than "necessarily with each other".

Despite their public image of happiness on the red carpet and their public admiration for each other, friends are starting to wonder about their future together. 

“A lot of Hollywood couples don’t," remarked the insider, attributing recent strains to concerns over Amal's security related to her international human rights work and George's outspoken political views.

Approaching their 10th anniversary, "they are trying to make more of an effort to spend quality time together," reveals the insider, mentioning that George accepted a role in a Broadway play based on his 2005 film, Good Night, and Good Luck, potentially aligning with Amal's increased time in New York City as an adjunct professor at Columbia University. 

"But obviously she’ll still be traveling a lot, and he won’t be able to get away as easily. So unfortunately they’ll just be leading separate lives again," insider concluded.
