Gigi Hadid’s woke half-sister Alana Hadid lip-syncs, winks in Rudy Giuliani illness headline clip
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Bella and Gigi Hadid’s older half-sister, Alana Hadid, made sure to get social media talking after sharing an Instagram video, reacting to Rudy Giuliani’s illness.
The clip went viral because of her facial expressions and the way she posed in the video. Even though the video was only 10 seconds long, it spread across social media soon after it was shared on Monday, May 4.
For those unaware, former New York City former mayor Rudy Giuliani was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. According to his attorney, Joseph Cammarata, Giuliani was hospitalized due to a respiratory virus called metapneumovirus.
Alana Hadid shares video about Rudy Giuliani’s hospitalization
The 40-year-old Hadid sparked backlash online after posting a controversial video about the 81-year-old former New York City mayor, who was rushed to Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
At first, the clip appeared normal, but what happened next quickly got social media talking. The human rights activist pursed her lips, played with her hair, and lip-synced to audio of someone saying 'girl' over the instrumental of Green Day’s “Brain Stew.”
Wearing a red hoodie, she gave facial expressions that many online users described as shocked and mocking. The video also included an image of Giuliani alongside a BBC headline about his hospitalization. At one point, she winked at the camera as music played and a voice said, “This is awesome.”
The short reel was captioned, “So what did everyone have for lunch today?” The Hadid sister has often spoken out about social, racial, and political issues, so this is not the first time she has sparked online conversation through her social media activity.

Former New York City Mayor's health is slowly improving. His attorney, Joseph Cammarata, shared on Friday, May 8, that the 81-year-old is getting better each day. However, a source told PEOPLE that Giuliani’s condition is still very “touch and go.” He was hospitalized on Sunday, May 3, after facing serious health issues.
On Monday, May 4, a priest visited Giuliani and performed the last rites. A few days later, on Wednesday, May 6, his spokesperson, Ted Goodman said Giuliani had been moved out of the ICU. Cammarata also shared a video on X, saying Giuliani is making "great progress" and is now on the road to recovery.
