NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden paid tribute to the thirteen US Service members who were killed in the line of duty during the August 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan in his address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday, September 24.

The family members of the fallen officers, however, remained unmoved by the gesture and claimed that it was too little, too late for an occurrence for which the incumbent was to be blamed, in their correspondence with the New York Post.

Biden maintained that the Afghanistan withdrawal was “a hard decision, but the right decision,” before adding, "Thirteen brave Americans lost their lives, along with hundreds of Afghans in a suicide bomb. I think (of) those lost lives — I think (of) them every day."

Family members of fallen officers slam Joe Biden

Responding to President Joe Biden's remark, deceased Marine Corps lance corporal Kareem Nikoui's father Steve told the outlet over text, "He (Biden) thinks of them only because they are the casualties of his reckless decisions and policies."

"When he says he thinks of them every day, what he really means is he despises them because they, in his eyes, have tarnished his legacy. That withdrawal, as well as the loss of lives, are the main reason why he is a one-term president,” he added.

Gold Star father Darin Hoover shared with the publication, "He has no idea what he’s saying at this point. That speech was written by one of his staff and they are trying to cover Joe Biden for his involvement in the critical debacle of the withdrawal from Afghanistan."

“His saying that he thinks of our kids every day is a lie. He’s never even said their names because he doesn’t know them. It was HIS decision to pull out from Afghanistan and do it in the manner that he did. He has blood on his hands and we WILL NOT FORGET, EVER," he stated.

Hoover's son, Marine Staff Sgt Taylor Hoover, was killed by an ISIS-K suicide bomber at the Abbey Gate of Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport during the fiasco, along with Kareem Nikoui. The explosion reportedly took out more than 169 Afghan civilians and injured many more.

The bombing also killed Marine Cpl Hunter Lopez, whose father Herman told the outlet, "I am glad that he finally mentioned them in a speech. But he’s doing it on his way out." He shared that it was "a little too late” and evoked “a mixed bag of emotions.”

Internet slams Joe Biden over his UNGA remarks

Reacting to President Joe Biden's remarks, social media users took to X and accused him of being insincere and claimed he did not even remember the names of the deceased soldiers.

"Biden is too far gone to be taken seriously," wrote a user.

"When you know they don’t care," jibed another.

"Actions speak louder than words. They owe those families much more," expressed a third.

"Not long ago he bragged that no US service members had died under his watch, yet we are expected to believe he thinks about them every day???" asked another.

"To be fair, Biden probably can't remember their names," mocked a fifth.
