MIAMI, FLORIDA: Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former president Donald Trump, is reportedly being considered as a potential Secretary of State if the 77-year-old GOP frontrunner was to win the November general election.

This possibility has raised concerns about Kushner's controversial financial connections with the Saudi government, prompting further scrutiny.

During Trump's first term, Kushner, along with his wife Ivanka, served as a senior advisor to the president, with the former also acting as the Director of the Office of American Innovation, per a report from RadarOnline.com.

According to Vanity Fair, "Prominent Republicans" have conjectured about Kushner being considered for the position, which would make him the highest-ranking member in Trump's cabinet and fourth in line for the presidency.

A source, who was briefed on discussions, claimed that Republican senators had asked Kushner to lead the Department of State.

However, the source also noted that Kushner is currently "focused on his family and his business" and would delay any decision regarding the position until late summer.

What else did source reveal about Jared Kushner’s potential stint as US Secretary of State?

Jared Kushner and his family have been socially and politically isolated ever since his father-in-law Donald Trump was voted out of office.

Despite this, some Republican senators may prefer Kushner over other candidates who have a more uncompromising stance, potentially to soften some of Trump's whims and urges that could negatively impact long-standing US alliances.

During Trump's first term, his decision to appoint his daughter and son-in-law as senior advisors was widely criticized as blatant nepotism, given their lack of political experience.

Nonetheless, Kushner was tasked with brokering peace in the Middle East and successfully mediated the UAE-proposed Abraham Accords.

This accord aimed to "promote interfaith and intercultural dialogue to advance a culture of peace among the three Abrahamic religions and all humanity," according to the Department of State.

After Trump left the White House in 2021, Kushner's role in his administration came under scrutiny when his real estate firm secured a $2 billion investment from Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Additionally, watchdog organization Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) analyzed Kushner and Ivanka's financial records from their time in the White House and found substantial earnings.

The couple reported between $172 and $640 million in outside income while serving as senior advisors, raising ethical questions regarding Trump's cabinet and fueling the backlash against Republican lawmakers who accused Joe Biden and his son Hunter of using political power to influence and secure business deals with foreign adversaries.

In August of last year, Republican House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer admitted during an interview with CNN that Kushner accepting the $2 billion investment "crossed the line of ethics."

Despite this, Kushner has reportedly been in contact with Arab leaders to help secure the release of hostages held in Gaza by Hamas.

Additionally, he and his wife, Ivanka Trump, organized a meeting between bipartisan business leaders and the Qatari prime minister, according to OK magazine.

As previously mentioned, Kushner and his family have been socially and politically isolated since Trump's exit from office.

The source revealed that Ivanka chose to stay quiet amid her father's four indictments to protect her three children, namely, Arabella, 11, Joseph, 9, and Theodore, 6.

"It has been a rough period for all of the Trump kids, but Ivanka has always been especially close to her father," the source claimed.

"She loves him, her kids love him, and they are still a close family. But Ivanka does not want to be involved with the legal issues. She is removed from it and has adapted well to Miami. Her whole family loves it," they added.

While Ivanka is focused on her family, Jared continues to pursue business opportunities in South Florida.

"Jared has lots of business going on in South Florida," the source stated.
