NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Governor of North Dakota, Doug Burgam, joined co-host Pete Hegseth to discuss the Florida fundraiser for GOP 2024 presidential nominee Donald Trump on the Sunday, April 7 episode of 'Fox & Friends'.

The former president reportedly raised a record-setting $50.5 million at the private dinner event with billionaires, which was his first major fundraiser since bagging the nomination of his party, stated Hegseth.

Doug Burgam shared his experience

The former 2024 Republican candidate attended the event along with the likes of Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen Tim Scott as 'special guests'.

"It wasn't just energizing, it was actually inspirational," Burgam told Hegseth of the the fundraiser. "Being with all of these incredible job creators ... They've lived the American dream (and) given back to their communities ... And they're concerned about the future under Joe Biden. They're concerned about their kids and their grandkids, and the people who work for them."

"That part was very inspirational, to see the depth of the caring that people have. They know and understand that we're headed in the wrong direction under Joe Biden, and with President Trump, we're going to get this country going again and the world will be safer and more prosperous under (him). It's as simple as that."

Consolidation of Republican support for Donald Trump

Responding to Hegseth's question about Trump bringing together people in the GOP who formerly opposed him, Burgan said, "Certainly it was a night of unification, a night of support."

"In some ways, it is the official kickoff of this campaign," he continued. "Among the donors, there were people there (who have) known President Trump for 30, 40, 50 years, (and) there were people who have come into the fold more recently, but they are all united."

"Of course, Lara Trump, and the RNC, Michael Watney (all) there last night - The coordination between the Trump campaign and the RNC giving people confidence when they are investing that it is going to drive towards victory in the fall. In that sense, it was also inspirational because I think there is a real unification of the party around what needs to happen in November," added the Governor.
