Greg Olsen reveals surprise compliment from Tom Cruise at Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Greg Olsen has disclosed what Tom Cruise told him as the two were present for the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden on July 3.
The retired NFL tight end reportedly crossed paths with the A-lister while walking out of the restroom.
Greg Olsen reveals Tom Cruise liked his hat
During a recent episode of his podcast, ‘Youth Inc.’, Olsen detailed the unexpected meeting. He said, “It’s hard to really put into words the people that you would see in line in the bathroom and people you would see in line at the bar. You’re kind of like, ‘What am I even doing here? What is this circle?’”
The 41-year-old co-founder of Tight End University further shared that as he was leaving the restroom during the cocktail hour at the wedding venue, he heard someone saying, “Hey, hey… dude, I love your hat.”
And when Olsen, who attended the wedding donning a wide-brimmed black hat and dark gray tuxedo jacket, turned to see who complimented him, it was none other than the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star.
Greg Olsen had a few-minute conversation with Tom Cruise
“I was like, ‘Thank you, man. How nice it is to meet you, Tom Cruise,’” he said.
“And like, you know, you’re walking out of the bathroom with Tom Cruise, and he goes out of his way to compliment your hat, and then you have a two or three-minute conversation, amongst a million other people and athletes and entertainers and musicians,” the sports commentator described.
Olsen also further noted that, thankfully, he “did wash my hands” before shaking hands with Cruise. “But that was kind of like a ‘did I just shoot the s–– with Tom Cruise?’” he added.
Greg Olsen says Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding guests were 'unique crowd of fun people'
Elsewhere during the podcast, the longtime friend of Kelce revealed that though the July 3 wedding was a star-studded ceremony, guests were “just happy to connect, introduce themselves.”
“Some people know each other, some people don’t know each other. So, you know, just a really unique crowd of fun people. But I think the environment that was created — no phones, no cameras — everyone could just be themselves, enjoy the night, enjoy Travis and Taylor,” Olsen explained.
