Gregg Jarrett says 'incredibly stupid' Hunter Biden incriminated himself in Delaware gun case but warns first family is 'sacrosanct'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Legal Analyst Gregg Jarrett joined 'Fox & Friends' co-host Lawrence Jones to discuss the federal gun trial of Hunter Biden. First lady Jill Biden reportedly accompanied her son to the Delaware courthouse where the jury selection process began on the same day.

According to CNN, Hunter Biden, 54, has been accused of illegally purchasing and possessing a gun while abusing or being addicted to drugs and faces trial on three charges. The first two charges are related to the purchase of the gun while the third is linked to its possession.

Gregg Jarrett predicts a 'slam dunk' case for the prosecution

"This case will normally be a slam dunk," Jarrett began, reminding Jones, "It's Delaware, though. Remember that. The name Biden is sacrosanct, and of course, Jill is there to remind them of that. So who knows."

"The best witness against Hunter Biden is Hunter Biden," he continued. "I mean, he wrote a book explaining in detail how he bought a gun while he was a drug addict, and the exact time he bought (it) and then allegedly lied about it. So he incriminated himself, and it was incredibly foolish to cash in by peddling a book about your addiction when you know you are under criminal investigation for addiction-related crime," Jarrett said. 

Jarret went on to say, "But there are other evidences... Cocaine residue on the gun holder, three women who were romantically involved with him - they're prosecution witnesses. Finally, and most importantly, there are photographs that he took of himself, time-stamped doing drugs 4 days before he bought the gun. I mean you have to be incredibly arrogant or stupid or both to do that."



 

Gregg Jarrett says Hunter Biden has weak defense

According to Jarrett, Hunter Biden's primary defense is claiming, "'I couldn't have knowingly lied because I was in denial about my addiction, so I was not really an addict. Plus I was in rehab, so I didn't think I was an addict anymore.'"

"His backup defense is, 'Gee, I was so strung out I did not have the intent to lie or break the law.' That normally doesn't work because being addled is never a defense," said Jarrett. 

"He also tried challenging the second amendment, 'Oh the second amendment protects me and other drug addicts.' That's not the prevailing federal law. And of course, his dad is on record railing against the second amendment and arguing strict gun laws should always be enforced, except for maybe (his) son," he added.
