LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: California Governor Gavin Newsom demanded a face-off with Joe Rogan on the podcaster’s mega-popular show.

The Democrat launched an expletive-laced tirade against the UFC commentator–turned–social media star during an appearance on the YouTube show 'Higher Learning' on Friday, October 10.

Gavin Newsom calls out Joe Rogan

Newsom directly addressed Rogan, who has recently criticized him as a “bulls—t artist” ruining California.

“Joe, why won’t you have me on the show?” Newsom asked hosts Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay in a teaser clip. “He won’t have me on the show. It’s a one-way, and he has guests coming on, attacking and bashing, but he won’t have me on the show. Full stop. He should have me on the show.”

When asked if he would really confront Rogan on the podcast, Newsom said:

“I’m not afraid to go — I’m punching Joe Rogan, that son of a b—h is not used to that. He’s gonna dismiss it, he’s gonna laugh it off, tough guy and all that. But is he gonna have me on? I don’t know.”

Hosts suggested Rogan could appear on Newsom’s own podcast, This Is Gavin Newsom, and the governor agreed: “Let’s have it. Let’s do it, Joe. Come on my show, Joe,” he said.

Newsom’s challenge followed Rogan’s repeated criticisms of him, focusing on California’s problems and his White House ambitions.

“You can’t ruin a city and then go on to ruin a state and then say, ‘Guys, that was just practice. Once I get in as President, I’m going to fix it all,’” Rogan said, later calling the governor a “bulls—t artist.”

Rogan also criticized California’s leadership alternatives: “There’s no one who’s good who is competing against him, there’s no sincerity. The things that he says when confronted — ‘we’re the highest this and the highest that’ — everybody’s leaving [California]... You have the highest unemployment, you have the highest homelessness, even Hollywood is missing... you killed Hollywood, like, Hollywood doesn’t exist anymore. It’s literally gone.”

After a clip of Rogan’s rant went viral, Newsom responded on X:

“Joe Rogan is too [chicken emoji] to have me on his show and expose his listeners to the truth, so I’ll put it here,” Newsom wrote, listing California’s achievements. “I could continue… invite me on any time, @joerogan :)”

Gavin Newsom keeps swinging

The 'Higher Learning' interview showed a candid side of the governor.

“I’m the only governor who can claim this. I got a lot of s—t for this,” Newsom said, prompting host Van Lathan to laugh.

“Oh, sorry,” Newsom replied. “Well, you start with Joe Rogan, I’m gonna start cursing.”

He also criticized his own party: “Where the hell is the Democratic Party? Where’s our equivalent of Turning Point USA? Nowhere to be found,” he said.
