Hayden Panettiere’s ex-fiance requests to serve as her estate’s temporary guardian for their child

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hayden Panettiere’s former fiance reportedly wants to become the temporary guardian of the late actress’ estate for their daughter Kaya after her untimely death. 

Wladimir Klitschko filed a petition in court on Thursday, September 24, on behalf of their daughter, Kaya, so that he can be appointed as the temporary guardian, as per PEOPLE. The 11-year-old is the sole heir to her late mother’s estate.

Panettiere and the Ukrainian former professional boxer, 50, got engaged in 2013 before welcoming Kaya a year later. Their relationship, however, ended in 2018.

Kaya has been living with her father, who was granted full custody. 

The ‘Nashville’ star died on August 16 in a residence in Greenville, South Carolina. She was 36.

Now, as per Klitschko’s legal request, the decision should be made “immediately” as it will allow him “the necessary standing to file Hayden’s Probate Petition and the power to nominate a proposed Administrator of Hayden’s Estate.”

Panettiere’s ex-fiance has also expressed concern in his filing, stating that if the decision is not taken at the earliest, “there is a high probability that property belonging to Hayden’s Estate may be lost, damaged or dissipated before a duly appointed personal representative can be in place to protect it.”

He even alleged that before Panettiere’s death, she hired a security service to protect her home, “arising from a documented concern that an individual had gained unauthorized access to Hayden’s property.”

“Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is expected that the individual will continue to try and misappropriate property belonging to Hayden’s Estate,” Klitschko noted, before adding “that non-family members previously connected to Hayden have accessed and destroyed Hayden’s emails.”

This came months after the late former child actress had opened up about giving Klitschko full custody of Kaya. She reportedly called it “the most gut-wrenching experience of my life”.

After Panettiere’s death, a source reportedly shared, “She was so incredibly proud of Kaya. She’d talk about her all the time, and you could see how much she loved her. But there was also always sadness there. It was heartbreaking for Hayden that she wasn’t able to be part of her daughter’s everyday life.”

“Hayden struggled for a very long time, and she wanted nothing more than to get better and stay sober. It was just incredibly difficult for her. But even when she was struggling, she wanted what was best for Kaya,” the insider added.
