NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On May 22 episode of 'The Tonight Show', Jimmy Fallon humorously speculated about what Donald Trump's teleprompter operator might have been doing during the former president's mid-speech "freeze" on May 18.

Reportedly at the National Rifle Association convention in Texas, Trump paused dramatically as music played in the background, standing silently at the podium for over 30 seconds and then resuming his speech, "Now, we are a nation in decline. We are a failing nation."



 

The incident that took place while the 2024 US presidential candidate was addressing the crowd, urging gun owners to vote in the upcoming November elections led to widespread speculation of his health and fitness for the office.

When some critics suggested that Trump had "froze" or "glitched" during his speech, the Trump campaign responded by saying that the extended pause was intentionally done for "dramatic effect."

Trump himself addressed the issue on Truth Social, writing, "Donald Trump doesn’t freeze!" He explained that he frequently pauses during the "musical interlude" sections of his speeches.

During his monologue, Fallon highlighted the moment, quipping,  “Well, the third ‘Frozen’ movie doesn’t look great."

“We wanted to know what happened, so we actually got footage of the guy operating Trump’s teleprompter backstage,” he added.

The clip showed the teleprompter taking a call and gets an earful about his car’s extended warranty before finally scrolling to the next line of Trump’s speech.

Jimmy Kimmel's joke about Trump's speech leaves Internet divided

Fallon's quip about what Donald Trump freezing during the former president’s mid-speech led to a humorous response from the online community, with many leaving witty comments in the show's comment section.

One viewer expressed, "For the love of God and Humanity, Donald Trump needs to go away."

Another viewer shared, "Trump teleprompter probably said " hold for applause,and the applause never came."
