Heidi's face was fully enveloped in calcite-like fabric, obscuring all defining features, while her signature blonde hair was concealed beneath the costume-like ensemble, further enhancing the illusion and completing the sculptural presentation.

Staged by the Met’s Costume Institute, the “Costume Art” exhibit juxtaposes pieces from the museum’s extensive fashion archives with artworks from its broader collection. According to the museum’s press release, nearly 400 pieces are displayed in a newly designed gallery spanning 12,000 square feet, creating an immersive exploration of fashion as an artistic medium.

Klum’s 2026 appearance follows her return to the Met Gala in 2025 after more than a decade-long absence. Embracing the “Tailored for You” theme that year, she wore a strapless Vetements gown featuring ribbon trim inspired by the brand’s black-and-white label typically sewn into garments. 

Prior to that, her last appearance dated back to 2013, when she attended in a silver satin Marchesa gown adorned with an intricately beaded peplum corset and feather accents. Beyond the red carpet, Klum is fresh off a cameo in 'The Devil Wears Prada 2,' which she promoted in collaboration with Grey Goose.

Reflecting on her experience, she shared, “I was so lucky 20 years ago to have a tiny little glimpse to be in this movie. I remember it was with Mr. Valentino, and it was tiny, tiny, tiny, but still to be in such an epic movie for me, it was so amazing and still is.”

She added, “And I maybe have a tiny little part in it this year, I hope that they didn’t snip snip me out, I don’t know. But it was about fashion, about the people at the top top top in fashion, so it gave a little glimpse, a little insight.”
