LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katy Perry knows how to keep fans entertained. From witty posts to playful interactions, the 'Firework' singer is back in the spotlight.  She is making headlines not only for the buzz around her rumored link to Justin Trudeau but also for her fun and relatable presence on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the Met Gala.

Before the big event, she has her fans talking after she asked, “Should I go to #TheMet?” and the responses poured in.

Perry last attended the Met Gala in 2022, but she has stayed part of the conversation. The star has also been trending because of viral AI-generated images of her from 2025 that continue to circulate online.

Katy Perry’s Met Gala question traces back to her viral AI moment

The Met Gala is set for Monday, May 4, and Hollywood’s biggest names are getting ready for the glamorous night. And it looks like Katy Perry might be joining the conversation in her own signature style.

The reason behind her cheeky “Should I go to #TheMet?” question seems to trace back to last year’s buzz. In 2025, Perry never actually attended the Met Gala, but that did not stop the internet from imagining otherwise. AI generated images of her on the red carpet went viral, creating a moment that felt real even though it was not.

Couldn’t make it to the MET,” Perry captioned her May 6 Instagram post, “I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL)," she also mentioned.

The viral moment had even fooled someone close to her. Last year, Perry revealed that her mother believed the look was real. “Didn't know you went to the Met,” Mary texted her daughter, per a screenshot shared on her Instagram at the time. “What a gorgeous gown, you look like the Rose parade, you are your own.
