WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump is known for repeating certain phrases while giving speeches, speaking to reporters, or posting on social media. Some of his most common words and phrases include “sad,” “beautiful,” “tariffs,” and “thank you for your attention to this matter".

However, beyond these, there is one phrase the POTUS has leaned on heavily. According to a new report, Trump has used it 194 times so far in 2025. The Atlantic noted that in 2024, he used the same phrase more than 1,000 times.

Communication professor says everything ‘demands an extreme context’

Donald Trump has used some version of the phrase “like you’ve never seen before” 194 times this year, according to Roll Call’s Factba.se, a database of presidential remarks.

A 2024 review by The Atlantic found that Trump had used the variation “nobody has ever seen before” around 1,000 times.

The phrase appears to be the president’s favorite form of hyperbole, applied whether he is praising something or criticizing it.

Experts argue the repeated expression reflects more than a rhetorical habit. It shows how Trump views the world and approaches the presidency.

Brian Ott, a communication professor at Missouri State University who studies political rhetoric, told reporters, “The way he talks translates into the way he governs. For extreme responses, everything demands an extreme context."

Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Liz Huston defended Trump’s repetition, saying, “Repetition is the key to any good messaging, and President Trump is the greatest communicator in the history of American politics."

Factba.se noted that it used AI and other tools to identify versions of the phrase across Trump’s public remarks.
