Hillary Clinton trolled as she says female voters deserted her in 2016 election for not being 'perfect'
WASHINGTON, DC: Hillary Clinton recalled the last days of her 2016 presidential campaign as she claimed women abandoned her at the time because she was "not perfect."
“They left me because they just couldn’t take a risk on me, because as a woman, I’m supposed to be perfect,” the former first lady said in an interview with The New York Times.
Hillary Clinton says voters could only envision 'a man as president'
Speaking about the voter's attitude toward a presidential candidate, Clinton said, “They were willing to take a risk on [Donald Trump] who had a long list of, let’s call them flaws, to illustrate his imperfection because he was a man, and they could envision a man as president and commander in chief.”
Echoing her sentiments were several of Clinton's allies during the 2016 election cycle when she lost to Donald Trump as they highlighted the sexist double standard she faced on the campaign trail.
Emphasizing this disparity, Tracy Sefl, a Democratic consultant and Clinton surrogate explained, “Is there a double standard? One hundred percent times 100 percent."
“And God forbid if she coughs," she said at the time.
Hillary Clinton's criticism of Democrat's response to abortion rights
Clinton also criticized her fellow Democrats for their response to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the Roe v Wade case in 2022, ending the federal rights to abortion access.
Issuing a stark warning on abortion rights, she reflected on how Democrats spent decades in a state of denial of the vulnerability of abortion rights, which had been under the protection of Roe vs Wade for generations.
“We didn’t take it seriously, and we didn’t understand the threat. Most Democrats, most Americans, did not realize we are in an existential struggle for the future of this country," said Clinton.
“We could have done more to fight,” she added.
The former presidential nominee also shared that during the 2016 presidential campaign, she tried to alert people about the dangers posed by anti-abortion efforts, but her warnings were dismissed as alarmist.
Hillary Clinton mocked online for claiming female voters deserted her for not being 'perfect'
Reacting to Clinton's claim women deserted her during the 2016 election because she was not perfect, one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "Hillary is the biggest crybaby ever. Nothing is ever her fault. But insulting women is a new low."

I've lost count.
8 years later and she's still denying the election results?

"So again, to clarify, it's all our fault? Ok," a netizen opined and another user wrote, "Never trust a person who refuses to take any responsibility for their own actions. She still thinks everybody else is the reason that she lost in 2016."
