WASHINGTON, DC: Hillary Clinton addressed questions about Ghislaine Maxwell’s presence at her daughter Chelsea Clinton’s wedding, clarifying that Maxwell was not personally invited by the Clinton family.

After more than six hours of deposition before the House Oversight Committee, Clinton told reporters that Maxwell attended the July 31, 2010, ceremony in Rhinebeck, New York, simply as a guest of someone else.

The former secretary of state emphasized that her interaction with Maxwell was limited. “I knew Ghislaine Maxwell casually as an acquaintance, but whatever they asked me, I did my very best to respond,” she said.

Clinton described Maxwell’s attendance as a “plus-one,” arriving as the guest of another invitee. She also reiterated that she never had any direct connection with Jeffrey Epstein.

Chelsea Clinton’s wedding guest list draws renewed scrutiny

Chelsea Clinton’s wedding had roughly 500 attendees, including political figures, celebrities, and close family friends. About half of the invitations were sent directly by the Clinton family.

Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) highlighted Maxwell’s attendance, pointing out that Epstein did not attend the ceremony. “So the obvious question is, who invited Maxwell?” Fallon wrote on social media, drawing attention to the unusual appearance.

Hillary Clinton ends press conference abruptly on Maxwell questions

Media noted that Clinton ended her press conference abruptly when asked further about Maxwell’s invitation. The discussion came amid a broader congressional review of the Clintons’ past connections with Epstein and Maxwell, as well as ongoing public interest in the 2010 wedding’s guest list.

Clinton maintained her position throughout, stressing that her knowledge of Maxwell was limited to casual acquaintance. She reaffirmed: “I never met Jeffrey Epstein, never had any connection or communication with him.”

The renewed focus on Chelsea Clinton’s wedding illustrates how even long-past social events can attract scrutiny, especially when they involve figures tied to high-profile investigations.
